Is Brett Favre Judas? Or Is He Bill Clinton?

Brett Favre returned to Lambeau Field this afternoon in a Minnesota Vikings uniform and triumphed over his old team much to agony of Green Bay Packers fans.

Favre threw four touchdown passes for 244 yards and completed 17 of 28 passes en route to a 38-26 win for the Vikings. The Vikings are now 7-1 this season.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers played respectably. He actually passed for more yards than Favre (287) and completed more passes (26) and had three touchdowns. But it just wasn't good enough.

Rodgers still has some big shoes to fill and has yet to show he can fill his own. After Favre retired and then unretired for the first time, the Packers told him they were firm in their commitment to Rodgers. I agreed with the Packers but it looks like Favre gets the last laugh for now. Packers fans can compare him to Judas, Benedict Arnold and Fredo Corleone to their hearts content. It doesn't change the fact that Favre is still one of the best QBs in the NFL at the age of 40.

Mike Freeman, the senior writer for CBSSports.com, summed it up this way:

Favre may be a traitor who possesses the sincerity of Bill Clinton, but his win was stunning nonetheless.

It will be interesting to see if Favre remains a Viking next season. If so, Rodgers could have a chance to redeem himself. Packers fans won't accept Rodgers until they can win games. If he beats Favre head to head next year it will go along way in earning his $65 million contract extension he signed a year ago. It would give Packers fans the chance to laugh last.

Brett Favre is leading the league in passer rating and his team has lost only 1x this season with a new team. I dont think being indecisive is a crime, and Im a lifelong Packers fan and still pulling for Favre to succeed.
