Obama on Ayers: "I Assumed That He Had Been Rehabilitated."

I just read Jake Tapper's blog on ABC News website. Yesterday, Barack Obama was interviewed by Philadelphia based conservative talk radio host Michael Smerconish, when he learned of Bill Ayers' life as a terrorist with the Weather Underground, Obama said, "I assumed that he had been rehabilitated." (http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/does-obama-stil.html)

Assumed?

Well, we all know what happens when you assume.

When Ayers tells The New York Times he does not regret setting bombs; it is not a sign of an "rehabilitated" terrorist. One can only be "rehabilitated" if one takes responsibility for one's actions, bears the consequences and makes amends. Bill Ayers is not "rehabilitated" in any way, shape or form. But if that's Obama's idea of "rehabilitated" then G-d help us all.

So when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad became Mayor of Tehran and then President of Iran I suppose Obama "assumed" he was a rehabilitated hostage taker. Suffice it to say, Obama's assumptions are no substitute for due dilligence.

Somehow I don't think this is the last time I will be writing about Obama's judge of character.
