It has been revealed that British Prime Minister wanted Libyan terrorist Abdel-Baset al-Megrahi to die a free man.
All I can ask is why? Why would Brown entertain the idea of freeing a man responsible for the deaths of 270 innocent civilians? Now Brown can say that decision was up to the Scots but if the Prime Minister makes his position known on the matter he must surely know the Scots would have taken his point of view into consideration when rendering that decision.
Some of have speculate al-Megrahi's release was motivated by British commercial interests in Libya. One must also consider the possibility of placating the Muslim population in Scotland. Granted they comprised less than 1% of the population in the 2001 Census but it is fastest growing segment of their population and its youngest. It is a constituency they cannot ignore.
Conservative Party leader David Cameron has called for a public inquiry into the matter.
