Vice-President Joe Biden has blasted Israel over its plan to construct an additional 1,600 housing units in East Jerusalem.
Biden said, "I condemn the decision by the government of Israel to advance planning for new housing units in East Jerusalem." He went on to say, "We must build an atmosphere to support negotiations, not complicate them."
The Vice-President is traveling in the Middle East in an effort to reignite peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. In other words, he's there to pressure Israel into making concessions.
It would be nice if Biden were to have "condemned" the Palestinian Authority when they postponed presidential and parliamentary elections indefinitely last November. But that would have been meddling now. Elections in the Palestinian territories are anyone's guess. Apparently it is of no concern to Biden or President Obama.
