A car bomb was detonated outside the Danish Embassy in Pakistan today killing six people, including one woman from Brazil. Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's number two, called for attacks against Danish interests after the Danish cartoons depicting Mohammad were reprinted earlier this year. You have to admire the Danish for standing firm in the midst of all this horror. They will not be prevented from freely exercising thought.
However, I wonder if this will be a sign of things to come. People expect there to be terrorist attacks in Pakistan. Despite 911, despite Madrid, despite London people still don't expect terrorist attacks in the West. I suspect this could be a dry run for an attacks against Danish interests in Europe or North America.
In the meantime, let's all go out and buy Danish goods.
