Massachusetts State Treasurer Tim Cahill, the Democrat turned Independent, has said he will remain in the race despite the fact his running mate for Lieutenant Governor Paul Loscocco has now dropped out and is backing Republican candidate Charlie Baker.
Loscocco's departure follows that of his campaign manager and top strategist last week.
It is difficult to imagine how he can remain in the race under the circumstances. If he does he is going to take a beating that will effectively end his political career. He will have been licked. That is, unless, he can pull out a Jefferson Smith out of the hat.
