Now that Keith Olbermann will become the face of Current TV what will become of his future?
Matthew Harrigan of Wunderlich Securities predicts a bright one for Olbermann stating his presence on the network (which was co-founded by former Vice-President Al Gore) could increase its ratings tenfold. But is that really saying very much? By Harrigan's own numbers, Current TV currently draws 20,000 to 30,000 viewers in primetime. So let's say Harrigan is correct and Olbermann boosts the network's ratings to 300,000 viewers. Well, Bill O'Reilly typically draws ten times as many viewers.
Olbermann will probably end up being to Current TV what Dan Rather is to HDNet. Both will toil in relative obscurity.
Well, at least, I can take solace that the onetime pre-game host for Fox Saturday Baseball won't be on the MLB Network.
