The Super Bowl wasn't the only significant sporting event today.
The 52nd Caribbean World Series concluded with the Dominican Republic beating host country Venezuela 7-4.
This is the third time in four years the D.R. has won the round robin tournament. Since 2001, they have won the tournament six times.
Fernando Martinez, a top outfield propsect with the New York Mets, was named the Series MVP.
The MLB Network was broadcasting the games live from Venezuela. To be precise, the tournament took place in Porlamar on the Margarita Islands. The most stunning thing about the ballpark was the mountains beyond the outfield fences. It's a shame that Chavez is ruining such a beautiful country.
