Jon Miller, the voice of the San Francisco Giants and ESPN Sunday Night Baseball, has been named the 2010 recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award.
Named after the former MLB Commissioner, the award honors excellence in baseball broadcasting in radio and television. Miller will be formally honored during the Hall of Fame ceremonies in Cooperstown this July.
You might recall that I fretted last season that Miller might be leaving ESPN after he was notably absent from the broadcast booth in both June and July. Thankfully, my fears were unfounded.
With Steve Phillips no longer with ESPN, I hope it will be just Miller and Joe Morgan in the broadcast booth next season. Three's a crowd. Besides what better way to commemorate the 20th anniversary of ESPN Sunday Night Baseball than with the two original announcers?
