Vladimir Guerrero has agreed to a one year contract with the Texas Rangers worth between $5.5 to $6 million. The Rangers have a club option for 2011.
After spending the last six seasons with the Angels, Guerrero will be the Rangers DH in 2010. He has always hit will in Ameriquest Field. He has hit .394 with 14 home runs and 33 RBI in 50 games there. Vlad is glad to be in Texas.
Guerrero missed 62 games in 2009 due a torn chest muscle and a strained left knee. Thus his 15 home runs and 50 RBI represented his lowest career totals since his rookie season with the Montreal Expos in 1997. But Guerrero enjoyed a productive post-season in '09 hitting .378 with a home run and 7 RBI in 9 games combined in the ALDS and ALCS.
Entering the 2010 season, Guerrero has a .321 lifetime batting average with over 2,200 hits. He hit his 400th career home run last season. Guerrero won the AL MVP in 2004 in his first season with the Angels. He might not have a MVP season in 2010 but he will help the Rangers.
