Giving New Meaning to Extra Innings

Yesterday, the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres played an 18 inning game where the D'Backs prevailed 9-6.

But the D'Backs and Padres have nothing on youngsters in Wrentham, Massachusetts (about 25 miles southwest of Boston.)

Kids between 5 and 15 played a 36 hour, 101 inning game to raise money for charity this weekend. In all, they raised $75,000 for organizations such as the March of Dimes and Curt's Pitch for ALS (former Red Sox legend Curt Schilling's charity.)

The home team won 348-339.

OK, so there wasn't a lot of pitching and defense. But the kids sure hit a home run.
