If you think times are bad here (and they no doubt are) please consider that things could always be worse.
You could be living in the west African nation of Guinea Bissau which in the past three months has sent the assassination of its President and today the assassination of the man who was likely to succeed him. Combine Latin American drug cartels with a military eager to overthrow civilians rulers and you've got a place where life, in the words of Thomas Hobbes, is "nasty, brutish and short."
