Is Andrew Sullivan Taking Ahmadinejad At His Word?

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad supposedly told George Stephanopoulos that he is down with a two state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.

Or at least Andrew Sullivan would have us believe:

Cynicism? Telling Stephanopoulos what he wants to hear? Or feeling pressure from the electorate and from Obama? We'll see. But if every state, including Iran, backs a two-state solution, and Netanyahu refuses, then Israel's isolation will intensify.

Well, Hamas certainly doesn't back a two state solution and Iran is Hamas' benefactor.

Besides the U.S. withdrawal from Durban II certainly didn't prevent Ahmadinejad from defaming Israel.

But Sullivan has adopted the knee jerk left-wing default position of blaming Israel even with those in kafiehs chanting, "Palestine from the river to the sea."
