During a speech before the Turkish Parliament, President Obama said, "The United States is not, and will never be, at war with Islam."
The President went to on say, "America's relationship with the Muslim world cannot, and will not, be based on opposition to Al Qaeda."
It is all well and good for Obama to say such things. But just because President Obama says we are not at war with Islam and never will be doesn't mean that Islam isn't at war with us. And just because President Obama says our relationship with the Muslim world cannot ever be based on opposition to al Qaeda doesn't mean the Muslim world's opposition to the U.S. isn't based on our opposition to al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Iraq.
President Obama can do away with terms like "war on terror" or "enemy combatant" and insist we are not at war but he cannot wish these things away. But it appears the President is in denial. If Obama insists on taking this path the Muslim world will look upon him and, by extension the United States, as a weak and ready for the taking.
Heaven help him and us all if he takes all these steps and then there's another major terrorist attack on our soil.
