I'm surprised the Obama Administration isn't getting more flak for Air Force One flying low over Manhattan yesterday near Ground Zero causing a panic.
But then again I guess I shouldn't be. Tomorrow is Day 100 and the bloom isn't off the rose. At least not now.
I hate to sound like a broken record but if this happened under the Bush Administration we would never hear the end of it.
Of course, it didn't happen under the Bush Administration because September 11, 2001 was a life changing event for George W. Bush and millions of Americans. His Presidency was defined by September 11th and everything he did, right or wrong, was driven by those events. The last thing the Bush Administration would have done is have Air Force One fly over Manhattan for a "photo-op." The Bush Administration can be criticized for many things but vanity isn't one of them.
The fact it never entered anyone the mind of anyone in the Obama White House this would cause bedlam does not speak well of its obligation to keep us safe and not cause unnecessary alarm. The tone is set at the top and I'm afraid President Obama is too vain to understand September 11, 2001.
Oh, I'm sure some flunky, most likely White House Military Office Director Louis Caldera, will resign and that will be the end of the story. But it is story that will be told again in certain other quarters. Believe me, al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations that would do harm to the United States have taken notice.
