Newt Gingrich & Al Sharpton?

I don't get this at all.

Yes, it is a nice photo op. Moreover, since Gingrich is in the presence of The Anointed One for once the MSM will be nice to the former Speaker.

But how is it that a man who incited a riot resulting in the death of seven people and who falsely accused an Assistant District Attorney of committing rape against a teenager gets the red carpet rolled out for him at the White House?

I have been following Newt Gingrich on Twitter, and he has now met with Al Sharpton twice. He announces this as blandly as he does his appearances on Fox News. I'm surprised he's not getting more criticism from conservatives. I'd imagine this could be used against Gingrich; even if he's not going to run for office again, I think he wants to be in the forefront of the conservative movement. Won't this cause a backlash? So far I'm not really seeing this.
