Thoughts on Obama at Notre Dame

I don't think conservatives, Catholic or otherwise, served themselves well by objecting to President Obama's presence at Notre Dame University. By objecting to his very presence we make ourselves look petty and intolerant.

This isn't to say they shouldn't have protested. That is their inherent right. But there is a right way and wrong way to demonstrate one's displeasure. Besides how often have we decried liberals for objecting to conservative speakers who are invited to speak at university campuses? We cannot very well decry liberals for their behavior if we are unprepared to be on our own best behavior. And like it or not, Obama is the President of the United States. As such he and his office should be accorded the highest level of courtesy and decorum.
