Presidential Rival Slams Ahmadinejad Over Holocaust Or Does He?

Mehdi Karroubi, a "moderate" cleric who is running against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Iran's Presidential "elections" next month, slammed Ahmadinejad over his comments about the Holocaust.

Or did he?

The headline at Agence Presse France reads, "Iran presidential hopeful slams Ahmadinejad over Holocaust."

By reading the headline one would by left with the impression that Karroubi was lambasting Ahmadinejad's view that the Holocaust is a myth.

But here's what Karroubi actually said. "Ahmadinejad has done Israel's the greatest service by speaking of the Holocaust because now the world has risen to support Israel."

Far from decrying the Holocaust, Karroubi's selling point is that Ahmadinejad is helping Israel. He isn't disputing Ahmadinejad's claim the Holocaust is a myth but rather he's only admonishing him for expressing the sentiment in polite company.

Unfortunately, liberals in the West and the acolytes in the Obama Administration mistake such talk for tolerance, open mindedness and amenability to reason.

Besides if Karroubi really were condemning Ahmadinejad's point of view of the Holocaust the Mullahs would never let his candidacy see the light of day.
