Former South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun died due to head injuries he sustained after a fall while mountain hiking. It appears that Roh's injuries were self-inflicted.
Roh served as South Korea's President from 2003 to 2008. Initially considered anti-American and friendly towards North Korea he would later get back in the good graces of the Bush Administration when he sent South Korean troops to Iraq.
After Roh left office, he and his family had been implicated in a bribery scandal. The shame associated with such a scandal could certainly explain Roh's decision to take his own life.
It is worth noting South Korea has one of the highest suicide rates in the world.
