Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and the legitimately elected President of Burma, has been arrested and taken to the notorious Insein Prison.
The authorities are alleging that she housed a secret American visitor who swam to her home where she has been held under house arrest for most of the past two decades.
Her detention is due to expire on May 27th so it is rather convenient for the military junta to bring about new charges against her a fortnight before she was due to be released.
Former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush were outspoken against the military junta in Burma/Myanmar.
It will be interesting to see if President Obama and for that matter First Lady Michelle Obama have to say about not only this latest travesty of justice against Suu Kyi but about the tyranny that reigns in Burma/Myanmar.
